    Artist Statement

Adam Grose explores history, mythology, memories, archives and entropy relating to Lost Generations and the Echoes in the Present.  He explores history lost to time, seeking to reveal what and who existed in our past - a remembrance and the layering of time, revealing the complexity of the human condition.

'I'm drawn to the fragility of knowledge: exploring how information can easily become forgotten, lost, changed, manipulated or misinterpreted over time. Through our engagement with objects and the memories and histories they bring, we seek to connect with the past via the inscribed, the carved, the sculpted form, images, buildings, artefacts and documents, affording opportunities to learn from alternative testimonies, re-visiting, re-evaluating and re-engaging with previously obscured and/ or ignored realities.'

These particular qualities and their connection to the human condition explore the idea of the so-called 'immortal object' akin to heirlooms, museums artefacts, archives or memories.  Yet, these are all subject to the external forces of entropy.
