Artist Statement

I am a visual artist working with words to create sculptures, trails, wall & window-based work and temporary site-specific work. Most of my work is the result of commissions by arts organisations and other public bodies and is a mix of permanent work in the public realm and temporary work for events or festivals. Collaboration and community engagement is a key element of many projects and I regularly work with writers, poets and other artists as well as engagement with a wide range of ages, particularly young people. I am also a practising graphic designer and this work, particularly my passion for typography, influences and informs my artworks - there is often a strong element of crossover in what I do. I am driven by the desire to help communicate the thoughts and hopes of others and explore the visual nature of written language and how we communicate with each other.
