    Artist Statement

Poetry and forms of map-making have always played an important part in the practice, which essentially centres around ambiguities in human perceptions of ‘nature’.  The work involves minute exploration through the languages of sculpture, film, drawing and painting, often in collaboration with Louise Short, under the moniker of Short&Forward.

Our migration to rural Wales nine years ago has had a profound effect on our perspectives.

Short&Forward are working towards a show in Tampere, Finland in 2022 (postponed from 2020) :  sculptural assemblages, drawings and paintings reference vernacular and animal architecture, animal traps, tunnels and abandoned mines around the Rheidol valley where they live. Recent work is currently showing in Oriel 1 Gallery, Aberystwyth Arts Centre, until September 5, 2021.
