Artist Statement

As a UK based multidisciplinary artist that focuses on performance, printmaking and sculpture. To explore conversations on postcolonial ideas around the Black British experience in the UK and the diaspora. Investigating through materiality of fabric and language to investigate social issues within the UK and the BAME experience. Challenging concerns of colonial narrative and history, and the impact within education and many other aspects of society. The use of non-violent imagery within the works to represent violent traumatic events with ties to plantations, colonial history and transatlantic slave trade.

Issue 10 October 2018 Contributor In ‘BUMF’ Publications - Narrative Issue 10

    In this publication of BUMF I wrote an article on Black History Month ,Audre Lorde and         Marcus Garvey.  

October 2018 Self published Zine Curator and editor - ‘Black History Month Zine’

    This zine focused on promoting influential people of colour and focusing on positive stereotyping on people of colour. I wrote and edited this zine which was released for black history month. 

October 2018 Contributed and participated in Podcast for Arts University Bournemouth podcast society ‘Black History Month’

    I was a participated in the panel discussion surrounding race, black attainment gap and being a person of colour in higher education.
